My contribution to Home and Away | Надалеч и вкъщи centers on In Between Here and There, a series of eight acrylic paintings on circular wood slices that explores the experience of existing between cultures and places. Drawing from my life between Vancouver and Sofia, the imagined cityscapes merge architectural elements from both, creating uncanny, non-existent environments that reflect a fractured sense of belonging. The wood slices emphasize cycles of growth and continuity, bridging natural and built worlds. Together, the works occupy a threshold of adaptation and becoming, where identity is not fixed but continually shaped, positioning belonging as an ongoing process rather than a final destination.
